FULLERTON, Calif. – The Cal State Fullerton softball team fell to Utah, 10-2, on Saturday night at the Judi Garman Classic. The Titans stand 12-9 on the season and 1-3 on the weekend heading into the tournament's final day. 

Utah jumped to an early 4-0 lead over the Titans in the top of the first inning, sending a ball over the left field wall with bases loaded. Ava Arce answered with a run in the bottom half of the inning on a sacrifice fly to left field that scored Sarah Perez (single). Arce collected her team-leading and conference-leading 23rd RBI of the season. 

Utah plated another runner in the second on a solo home run before Sophia Guevara drove in Sarah Coccillos with a double, keeping the game within three at 5-2. Guevara is slashing .286/.384/.405 on the season with four extra base hits (3 doubles). 

The Utes found two runs in the fifth, a run in the ninth and their 10th run in the seventh, while keeping the Titans to two hits in the last three frames. 

As a pitching staff, Eva Hurtado (3.1 IP, 3 H, 5 ER, 5 BB, 2 K), Leanna Garcia (1.0 IP, 1 H, 3 ER, 3 BB, 1 K) and Trisha McCleskey (2.2 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 3 K) retired six Utah batters on strikes. As a team, the Titans have plated 13 runs on 28 hits through their first five games at the Judi Garman Classic. 

The Titans wrap up the 19th annual Judi Garman Classic against San Diego State on Sunday at 11:45 a.m. The Aztecs entered the tournament nationally ranked No. 20 on D1Softball's Top 25 poll. The Titans opened the season with a 7-3 victory over the Aztecs at the Easton Classic on February 7.
