Box Score TUCSON, Ariz. – The Cal State Fullerton softball team defeated South Alabama in a 3-1 victory at the Arizona Bear Down Fiesta on Saturday. The Titans head into Sunday's doubleheader with a 6-2 overall record.Â
The ballgame remained scoreless through three innings until South Alabama drove in a runner on a sacrifice fly to
Kate Verhoef in center field in the top of the fourth. Verhoef collected her 12th putout of the season, maintaining a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage from center field.Â
Colby McClinton (2-for-3, R) led off the bottom half of the inning with a successful bunt to the catcher before
Ava Arce moved her into scoring position with a sacrifice bunt. McClinton continued moving around the bases, stealing third base, before
Alexia Lopez (1-for-2, R, RBI) tied the game up at 1-1 on a double to left field. McClinton (.444), Arce (.429) and Lopez (.400) hold the three highest batting averages on the team against their Bear Down Fiesta opponents, combining for four RBI and three stolen bases.Â

Nataly Lozano (1-for-1, 2 RBI) sent a ball down the left field line for a two-run hit that landed her on second base, giving the Titans their first and only lead of the game, 3-1. Lozano is batting .357 with the second most RBI on the team (9). With runners in scoring position, Lozano is batting .375 on the season.Â

Trisha McCleskey (2.63 ERA) picked up her second complete game of the weekend and season, allowing just one run on five hits. McCleskey stands 3-1 on the season with 24 hits, nine earned runs, 11 strikeouts and 11 walks through 24 innings pitched.Â
The Titans conclude their stay at the Bear Down Fiesta on Sunday against Ohio (8:00 a.m. PT) and No. 15 Arizona (10:30 a.m. PT).Â
