PHOENIX, ARIZ. - The Cal State Fullerton Titans women's tennis team defeated the Grand Canyon University Lopes 4-3 on Saturday afternoon for their first win of the 2025 season.

It was also new Head Coach Ellie Johnson's first career NCAA Division 1 win. 

The Titans who won just one set yesterday at Northern Arizona fared much better today on the outside courts of the GCU Tennis Facility. 

The Titans won the doubles point despite GCU taking an early lead after winning No. 3 doubles.  The No. 1 pairing of Sein Myoung/Mariia Nikitash won 6-2 and the No. 2 pairing of Milena Gevorgyan/Diana Yanotovskaya won 6-4.

In singles, Milena Gevorgyan won her No. 6 doubles spot only dropping 3 games to put the Titans ahead 2-0.  The Lopes then won in No. 4 singles and No. 3 singles to tie the match at 2-2. Diana Yanotovskaya won in No. 5 singles 6-2, 6-4 to make it a 3-2 match.  Seha Yu won in No. 2 singles won 6-4, 6-4 to secure the match point for the Titans.  Sein Myoung played her No. 1 singles match out and lost in the third set tie break to make it a 4-3 game at the end.

The Titans will be on the road for one more match next Saturday at LMU before coming home to play their first home game. First serve is set for 11:00 AM at LMU.
