Honolulu, Hawaii – The Fullerton Titans traveled to face the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors on Saturday night in hopes to bring home their first Big West win of the season, but Hawaii capitalized on Fullerton's struggles and came out on top with a 69-59 win at Bankoh Arena.
The Titans had a slow first half, as they lacked in successful shots, only putting up 25 points. Fullerton outscored Hawaii 14-12 in points from the paint, but the Rainbow Warriors were dominant in all other categories, leading to their 39-25 lead at the half. The Titans struggled on offense, netting nine of their 34 attempts and shooting just 26% compared to Hawaii's 42%.
Bryce Cofield led the team with seven points, two rebounds and an assist in the first half.
Landon Seaman was right behind with six points and led the team with four rebounds.
Jefferson De La Cruz Monegro owned the Titans largest scoring run of the nine with his six consecutive points at the beginning of the second half. De La Cruz Monegro logged a layup in which he was fouled on, banking his and one, and hitting a shot from beyond the arc.
Fullerton struggled to catch up with the Rainbow Warriors in the second half and found themselves down by 16 points with just under three minutes remaining. They continued to be successful in the paint, outscoring Hawaii again, 20-16, but Hawaii seemed to be unstoppable. CSF's shooting percentage improved to 33%, but it was not enough to get the job done in Saturday's 69-59 loss.
Seaman tallied 11 points in the second half to lead the team with 17 on the night.
Joshua Ward led with seven rebounds and seven points. Ward nabbed five of his seven rebounds in the final 20 minutes.
The Titans head back home to host Bethesda on Wednesday, Dec. 10 at 7 p.m. in Titan Gym.
