Men’s Basketball Signs Zion Richardson for 2024-25 Season

FULLERTON, Calif. — Zion Richardson has signed to join the men's basketball program for the upcoming 2024-25 season, head coach Dedrique Taylor announced.

"Zion gives us a great deal of experience, size and basketball IQ," Taylor said. "We are truly excited about his arrival and what he brings to our program both defensively and offensively."

A 6-foot-4 guard from Frisco, Texas, Richardson spent the last two seasons playing at Quincy University. Last season, he averaged 17.7 points, 7.2 rebounds and 1.8 assists in 26 games played. He poured in a career-high 33 points to go with nine boards in a matchup with Rockhurst on Feb. 1 and was named an All-Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Second Team member at the conclusion of the season.

Richardson spent his freshman 2019-20 season at Wofford, where he appeared in 32 games and averaged 1.2 points and 1.2 rebounds per contest. Richardson then redshirted in 2021-22 at South Plains Community College before signing with Quincy.

Richardson stood out at Liberty High School in Frisco, breaking the program scoring record with 1,750 career points. He averaged 20 points, five rebounds and four assists per game as a senior and earned all-region, all-state and District MVP honors. He set the single-season program record that year for points, assists, field goals and free throws made.

Richardson is the fourth newcomer to sign with the Titan program for the 2024-25 campaign. He joins transfer Kobe Young from Boise State as well as freshmen Davis Bynum and LoLo Rudolph.
