SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — Cal State Fullerton men's track and field finished second while the women placed sixth Saturday at The Big West Championships. The Titan men earned 168 points, placing second behind host Cal Poly. The women earned 85.5 points to finish sixth.Â
The result marks the seventh consecutive time that the Fullerton men have finished in the top-two at The Big West Championships, having won five conference titles since 2017. The Titans' Abel Jordan was named men's track athlete of the meet while Andrew Aguilar garnered men's field athlete of the meet honors at the competition's conclusion Saturday.Â
Fullerton's men's 4x100m squad earned the first event win of the day for the Titans, running a 39.65 to claim gold. The squad was composed of Maleik Pabon, Abel Jordan, Dominic Gates and Ian Dossman and defeated second-place finisher Cal Poly by nearly a full second.Â

Trinity Barnett defended her 100m Big West title after running an 11.519 to win the event, edging CSUN's Kaliyah Poston by 0.001 seconds. Barnett, the only Titan to win the women's 100m in Big West Championship history, became the conference's first back-to-back champion since UC Davis' Ashley Marshall won it three consecutive times from 2013-2015.Â

On the men's side, Abel Jordan smashed his own school record to also claim gold in the 100m. Jordan ran a 10.19 (+1.2), besting his previous program record of 10.30 set earlier this season. He is the third consecutive Titan to win the event at The Big West Championships, with John Clifford winning last season and Cooper Bibbs in 2022. Teammate Dominic Gates placed fourth with a 10.31 while Ian Dossman ran a 10.34 to finish fifth.Â

Alyssa Heinlein won the women's 400H after clocking a 59.73. She is the first Titan to earn the conference title in the event since Maya Occiano won it in back-to-back seasons in 2021 and 2022. Mia Reid finished sixth Saturday with a time of 1:01.67.Â

Fullerton's men's 4x400m claimed gold in the final event of the weekend, running a 3:08.87. The team, built of Chris Goode, Isaiah Emerson, Donovan Garcia and Maleik Pabon defeated CSUN's squad by 0.06 seconds.Â

Jahzara Davis and
Abel Jordan finished second in the women's 100H and men's 110H, respectively.
Mia Reid placed third in the women's 100H while
Joshua Hornsby earned bronze in the men's 110H.
Fullerton's 800m runners posted strong results on both the men's and women's sides, with Jonathan Pfeiffer running a 1:52.90 to finish third. Grace Goldsworthy ran a 2:11.96 to also place third.Â
Reyte Rash, last year's Big West 400H champion, finished second in this year's event with a time of 51.19. Pabon earned silver in the men's 400m after clocking a time of 46.66.Â
The Titans' women's 4x400m relay team, composed of Nancy Dematte, Arionn Livingston, Heinlein and Goldsworthy, finished second after running a 3:40.39. In the women's 1500m, Mia Bergman earned bronze by posting a 4:29.07. Teammates Bella Smith and Nanette Novak placed 10th and 11th, respectively.Â
Up next for the Titans is the NCAA West Preliminaries, which will take place May 22-25 in Fayetteville, Arkansas.Â
