WBB Signs Two For Upcoming Season

FULLERTON, Calif. - Head coach Jeff Harada and the Cal State Fullerton women's basketball program have announced that they have signed two student-athletes to National Letters of Intent to join the program for the 2024-25 academic year.

"I couldn't be more excited about Madelynn and Jana joining our family and program." said Head Coach Jeff Harada.  "Not only are they excellent basketball players who love the game, but also amazing young women who have the character, work ethic and mindset both on and off the court."

Madelynn Muniz
Guard | Phoenix, Ariz. | University of Idaho

Madelynn is transferring to the Titans after spending one season at the University of Idaho where she was a redshirt and did not appear in any games this past season. She played basketball at Boulder Creek High School in Arizona where she was a two-time All-Conference First Team Player, a two-time All-Conference Offensive Player of the Year, Second Team All-State, and a Defensive Player of the Year.  She holds her HS team records for most points scored in a game, most 3-pointers made in a game, and the most 3-pointers made in a single season.

Muniz was born in Meridian, Idaho to Matt and Angie Muniz. She is the eldest of five siblings that include Kaylee, Jacob, Alex, and Tyler. She plans on pursuing a degree in business and would like to follow in her parent's footsteps.

"I chose to attend Cal State Fullerton because the coaches were amazing towards me and are giving me an amazing opportunity to play basketball close to home. They are giving me an opportunity to achieve my dreams of playing division 1 college basketball and bring what I do best to the team." said Muniz.

"Maddy is a flat out shooter!  She understands the game, knows how to get to her spots and is a threat from anywhere on the floor.  She is mature way beyond her age and coming from another DI program, she knows what it takes to succeed at this level. Her positive demeanor, work ethic and mentality is infectious and she will be a great addition to our team." said Head Coach Jeff Harada.

Jana Falsdottir
Guard | Reykjanesbaer, Iceland | Njardvik

Jana comes to the Titans with years of experience in the Iceland Premier League and from representing the Icelandic National Team at the youth level and the senior women's national team. She played her junior basketball with Keflavik before moving to Stjarnan where she averaged 16.5 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game.  She then moved to Haukar and became the youngest Icelandic player to play and score in a continental competition against Clube Uniao Sportiva in the 201-22 Eurocup Women Qualifiers.  She won the Icelandic Basketball Cup twice with Haukar.  The last club in Iceland she played for was Njarðvík. Jana made her Iceland National team debut in November of 2023. She is averaging 10.9 points per game, 4.0 rebounds per game, and 2.8 assists per game for Njardvik.

Both her parents played professionally and coached in Iceland, Falur Harðarson and Margrét Sturlaugsdóttir.

"Jana is one of those hidden gems that we were very fortunate to uncover.  Her motor and toughness on both ends of the floor really impressed me during the recruiting process.  She has a great skill set, is ultra-competitive and played at the highest level in Iceland against former college players so her experience at a young age will definitely help her transition here." said Head Coach Jeff Harada.
