FULLERTON, Calif. - Cal State Fullerton Titans Softball completed the sweep over UC Riverside after defeating the Highlanders 8-5 and 3-1 in Friday's doubleheader. The Titans improved to 22-12 on the season and 8-1 in Big West play.

Cal State Fullerton 8, Cal State Bakersfield 5

The Titans jumped on the board in the second inning as Hannah Becerra grounded out to shortstop, giving Kris Romulo the chance to score on the play.

Megan Delgadillo (2-for-4, 3 RBI, 2 R, 2 SB) extended the Titans lead in the third inning with a single up the middle, scoring the Big West Freshman of the Week, Kate Verhoef. Delgadillo reached home safely later that inning as Jessi Alcala reached on a fielder's choice for a 3-0 lead over the Highlanders.

The Titans continued their momentum in the fourth inning, scoring four runs on a two-run single by Delgadillo, a sacrifice fly by Alcala, and a single to left-center field by Kika Ramirez.

Entering the fifth inning, Fullerton held a 7-0 lead over the Highlanders. This lead quickly became a 7-5 lead as the Highlanders scored on a fielding error, a single and a three-run home run that forced the Titans to make a call to the bullpen.

Trisha McCleskey entered in relief for Staci Chambers (4.2 IP, 7 H, 5 R, 2 ER, 4 K) with two outs on the board. After the first batter she faced flew out to Delgadillo in center field, McCleskey got out of the inning without further damage.

Candace Yingling entered as a pinch hitter in the bottom of the inning, driving Peyton Toto for an 8-5 lead. The Titans held on to this lead through the seventh inning, earning Chambers her ninth win of the season and McCleskey her first save.

The Highlanders tied the game at 1-1 in the top of the third inning with a single through the right side.

Ava Arce found the gap in the sixth inning to retake the lead for the Titans, 2-1, as she scored Jessi Alcala.

Peyton Toto (1-for-3, RBI) gave the Titans some cushion later that inning with a base hit up the middle to score Romulo, who pinch-ran for Arce.

Haley Rainey collected her 11th win of the season after pitching her seventh complete game of the season. Through seven innings, Rainey struck out nine batters and walked two. She allowed five hits and just one run in Fullerton's second series sweep of the season
