FULLERTON, Calif. - The Cal State Fullerton Titans softball team defeated UC Riverside, 4-2, in their conference home opener on Thursday night. The Titans earned their 20th win of the season while improving to 6-1 in Big West play. 

Haley Rainey (6.1 IP) earned her 10th win of the season after allowing two runs on eight hits. She struck out a season- and career-high 10 batters and walked two. 

Bailey Wallace (1-for-2, 2 RBI) put the Titans on the board in the bottom of the first inning with a sacrifice fly to left field. Megan Delgadillo (3-for-3, 2 R, 4 SB) scored on the play after reaching on a base hit to UCR's left fielder and collecting two stolen bags.

The Highlanders tied the game at 1-1 in the third inning with a single up the middle, but Wallace answered in the bottom of the third with a double down the right-field line to score Delgadillo for a second time. 

The Titans took a 4-1 lead over the Highlanders in the bottom of the sixth inning off a throwing error and a base hit to left field by Colby McClinton. 

Staci Chambers entered from the bullpen in relief of Rainey in the top of the seventh with runners on second and third base. Chambers loaded the bases on a four-pitch walk with one out on the board but earned her first save of the season after the Highlanders hit into a double play to end the game. 

The Titans and Highlanders return to action on Friday with a doubleheader scheduled for 4:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. at Anderson Family Field.
