HENDERSON, Nevada - The Cal State Fullerton Titans women's basketball season came to an end on Wednesday as the Titans dropped an 81-56 game against the No. 5 seeded UC Davis Aggies in the Big West Championship First Round.
The Titans could not match with a hot shooting UC Davis side that shot 54.5% from the floor including going 17-for-32 from beyond the arc. Evanne Turner dropped a career-high 29 points on the Titans with 7 triples.
For the Titans, senior guard Fujika Nimmo had her best game all season in the final collegiate game of her career. Â
Nimmo led the Titans with 22 points on 9-for-16 shooting including going 4-for-7 from beyond the arc. Â Gabi Vidmar had 12 points including three steals in her final game as a Titan and Ashlee Lewis had 10 points along with 9 rebounds.
UC Davis jumped to an early 9-2 lead after drilling three-pointers to start the game. Â The Titans went on an 8-0 run to take a 10-9 lead over the Aggies behind Gabi Vidmar and Fujika Nimmo. Â
The Aggies jumped ahead 17-10 before
Fujika Nimmo hit a jumper to make it a 5-point game before the buzzer sounded.
In the second quarter, the Aggies separated themselves from the Titans after outscoring the Titans 29-to-14. The Aggies scored the 15 points of the period to build a 32-12 lead before
Fujika Nimmo finally got a basket back for the Titans. Â Evanne Turner and
Fujika Nimmo traded off three-point baskets twice before the Aggies built a 20 point lead before the first half ended.
Ashlee Lewis scored the first basket coming out of the halftime break. Â
The Titans continued to fight as Nimmo,
Aixchel Hernandez,
Gabi Vidmar, and
Brielle Minor scored for the Titans. Â The Aggies only outscored the Titans by 4 points (18-to-14) in the third quarter.
Minor started the final quarter by taking it to the rack and drawing a foul and completing the 3-point play.
 The Aggies built a 30-point lead before the Titans began chipping away at it. Â
Fujika Nimmo scored 7 of her 22 points in the final quarter including the final two baskets of the game.
The Titans finished the season with an overall 10-21 record and 6-14 conference record. Â The Titans had four seniors participate in the senior ceremony (
Kathryn Neff,
Ashlee Lewis,
Fujika Nimmo, and
Gabi Vidmar). Â However,
Ashlee Lewis is returning for her 5th year next year with the final covid-year exemption remaining next season.
