PHOENIX, Ariz. - The Cal State Fullerton Titans softball team dropped their final game of the Littlewood Classic 3-1 to GCU on Sunday. The Titans went 2-3 at the tournament and stand 6-3 on the season.Â
Leanna Garcia (2.2 IP, 2 H, 2 K) started in the circle for the second night in a row. She kept the game scoreless for
Haley Rainey (1.2 IP, 3 H, 1 (E)R, 1 BB, 1 K), who entered in relief for Garcia after getting into a two-out bases loaded situation in the bottom of the third.Â
Behind in the count (1-0), Rainey got out of the inning with no damage after second baseman
Jazmin Williams received a ground ball and completed the pass to
Peyton Toto at first for the third out.Â
A single up the middle by the Lopes drove in a run for a 1-0 lead over the Titans in the fifth inning, but
Jessi Alcala tied the game with a sacrifice fly to right field in the top of the sixth. This hit drove in
Megan Delgadillo who hit a double off the pitcher and into the outfield to lead off the inning.Â
GCU scored another run to regain a 2-1 lead over the Titans before
Staci Chambers entered in the bottom of the sixth with one out on the board. Giving up one more run to the Lopes before the sixth inning came to a close, the Titans fell to GCU 3-1. Chambers was issued her third loss of the season and holds a 2.94 ERA.Â
Softball is slated to play a mid-week game on the road at LMU on Wednesday, Feb. 21 at 4 p.m.Â
