RIVERSIDE, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton men's basketball fell to UC Riverside by a final score of 75-68 Saturday night on the road. The Titans drop to 2-8 on the year and 0-2 in conference play.
The two teams exchanged blows throughout the first half with neither team being able to pull away. There was a total of 17 lead changes and six ties in the first 20 minutes of actionÂ
Kaleb Brown led the way in the first half for the Titans, scoring 11 points on 4-of-7 shooting from the field. Zion Richardson added seven points in nine minutes off the bench including a three-pointer near the end of the half to send the Titans into the locker room with a 39-37 advantage.Â
The second half was much of the same with both sides exchanging leads. With just under eight minutes left in the game, Fullerton took a 57-56 lead on an and-one by Davis Bynum. However, it would be the last time the Titans had the lead in the game.Â
The Titans battled until the very end to gain control of the game. Trailing by four with two and half minutes remaining, Donovan Oday grabbed a rebound and took the ball the length of the court to pull the Titans within two points (66-64).Â
Fullerton's offense operated and finished at a much more efficient clip Saturday night, shooting 44 percent from the field. The Titans also looked more like themselves getting to the free-throw line and finishing, shooting 80 percent on 21-of-26.Â
Brown went on to finish the game with a team-high 17 points on 6-of-13 shooting. Oday added 15 points off the bench while John Mikey Square scored 10 points on 2-of-4 shooting and a perfect 6-of-6 at the free-throw line.Â
