Titans Rally Late to Defeat Pepperdine on the Road

MALIBU, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton men's basketball defeated Pepperdine on the road Tuesday night by a final score of 72-63. With the win the Titans improve to 2-5 on the season.Ā 

The Titans trailed for a majority of the game, a total of 28:38 and by as many as 10 points at one point in the game.Ā 

Donovan Oday gave the Titans the lead late in the second half after stealing the ball on an inbounds pass and taking it coast-to-coast for the slam dunk to give Fullerton a 60-58 lead.Ā 

Pepperdine came back to tie the game at 60 following two made free-throws, however the Titans never trailed for the remainder of the game and started to pull away thanks to two buckets from Kaleb Brown and made free-throws down the stretch.Ā 

Fullerton continued to show its strength of getting to the free-throw line and making its free-throws. The Titans went 21-of-25 from the line, shooting 84 percent as a team. On the year, the Titans are shooting 81 percent from the foul line.Ā 

The Titans offense greatly improved throughout the game, shooting just 34 percent in the first half compared to 58 percent in the second half. On the other end, the Titans defense held Pepperdine to just 37 percent shooting in the second half.Ā 

Fullerton had four players score in double figures led by Oday who had 15 points on 5-of-8 shooting. Brown added 13 points while John Mikey Square scored 12 points and Zion Richardson scored 11.Ā 

The Titans look to take their momentum to Northern California this weekend as the team takes on Pacific Saturday afternoon. Tip-off is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
