Game Recap: Men's Water Polo |

Titans Sweep Concordia and Ottawa at Day 2 of the Gary Troyer Tournament

CLAREMONT & LA VERNE, CALIF. - The Cal Sttate Fullerton Titans men's water polo completed a perfect 4-0 weekend at the Gary Troyer Tournament after defeating Concordia University Irvine and Ottawa University.

The Titans defeated Concordia University 16-14 in the first game of the day and for the second time this season.  They scored a season-high 24 goals in the 24-10 win over Ottawa in the final game of the day.

CAL STATE FULLERTON 16, CONCORDIA 14
The Titans led 4-3 after the first quarter.  Dominic Hernandez and Jacob Hatch scored the first two goals of the period while Julian Nichols and Alec Isaacman also scored in the quarter.

The Titans outscored CUI 7-to-3 in the second quarter.  Isaacman and Bende Aubeli scored to start the quarter.  CUI got one back before Zach Ewing, Nico D'Angelo, Isaacman, and Togan Ozbek scored four unanswered goals.  Jacob Hatch added the 11th goal of the game before the period ended.

The Titans were outscored 3-2 in the third quarter with Dominic Hernandez and Nico D'Angelo scoring in the period to take a 13-9 lead into the final quarter.

The Titans and Golden Eagles traded three goals early in the fourth period with D'Angelo, Ozbek, and Tony Benedetti denting the twine to keep the four goal advantage.  CUI scored the final two goals of the game but the Titans were able to see out the victory.

Alec Isaacman and Nico D'Angelo led the team with three goals a piece while Togan Ozbek led the team with 6 points on two goals and four assists.  Garrett Henderson picked up the win after making 14 saves inside the cage.

CAL STATE FULLERTON 24, OTTAWA 10
The Titans dominated from start to finish in the win over Ottawa Arizona in their final game at the Gary Troyer Tournament.  The Titans scored a season-high 24 goals and one goal off matching their career game high 25 points.

The Titans had 12 unique goalscorers for the game.  Nico D'Angelo, Will Johnson, Ethan Cooney, and Francisco Paredes all scored hat tricks for the game.  Hernandez, Ozbek, Aaron Ayala, and Bradley Pearce also had two goals a piece in the game.

Seth Zarn got the start and played the first two quarters and make nine saves.  Cy Hammerstrom played the final two quarters and made two saves.

The Titans led 8-3 after the first quarter and were up 14-6 after two quarters. The Titans dominated the final two quarters against the Spirit and outscored them 10-to-4 in the final two periods.

The Titans will return home to the Titan Aquatics Center when they host Santa Clara and the University of Toronto in the Joust. The first game is set for 12:00 p.m.
