Titans Walk-off Spartans in Day Two at the Judi Garman Classic

Box Score

FULLERTON, Calif. - The Cal State Fullerton Titans defeated the San Jose State Spartans 2-1 in walk-off fashion in the bottom of the seventh inning on Friday Night on day 2 of the Judi Garman Classic.

Alexa Neil provided the late night heroics as her chopper over the infield scored two runs with bases loaded to give the Titans (10-7) the victory.

The Titans started the seventh inning with back-to-back hits from Peyton Toto and Antuanett Dean.  Megan Delgadillo reached on an error by the shortstop to load the bases with no outs.  Neil then singled over the infield that was playing in to score both runs.

It was another pitching duel for most of the night as neither side could piece together hits to score runs.  Raci Miranda got the start for the Titans and allowed zero runs on five hits, one walk, and one strikeout in three innings.  Haley Rainey pitched the next four innings and allowed one run on two hits, two walks, and seven strikeouts. Lacie Ham picked up the loss after tossing six innings and allowing two runs (one earned) on eight hits ,two walks, and eight strikeouts.

The Spartans took the lead in the fifth inning after getting two doubles in the inning.  The Titans had a great chance to tie the game in the sixth inning after loading the bases with two outs in the inning on two walks and a base hit by Daisy Munoz.  However, the Titans would strike out with bases loaded to end the frame in the sixth.

The Spartans almost added a run in the seventh inning after a two out walk.  Aubrie Thomas hit a ball that was judged to be a foul ball after just missing the tip of Munoz's glove at first base that wiped off a run scoring triple on the play.  Rainey would then strike out Thomas and give the Titans the momentum they needed for the seventh and final inning.

The Titans had eight hits for the game.  Alexa Neil, Peyton Toto, and Antuanett Dean each had two hits in the game.

The Titans return for Day 3 of the Judi Garman Classic with two games. They take on the University of Minnesota at 5:00 p.m. before taking on the University of Central Florida at 7:30 p.m. for the night cap.
