FULLERTON, Calif. - The Cal State Fullerton Titans women's basketball team dropped their final non-conference game of the year in a 76-57 loss at home against the Santa Clara Broncos.
The Titans fell to 4-6 overall for the season before heading into Big West play next week. The Broncos improved to 11-3 overall for the season and 4-0 against Big West schools.Â
Gabi Vidmar led the Titans with 20 points on 54% shooting (7-for-13) and was 3-for-6 from beyond the arc. Â Vidmar also had 3 steals, 3 rebounds, and two assists in the game. Â Santa Clara had two plays in double digits with Tess Heal (22 points) and Olivia Pollerd (19 points) leading the Broncos. Â The Titans were killed on the boards all game as the Broncos outrebounded the Titans 48-to-28 for the game. Â The Broncos had 24 offensive rebounds to the Titans 10 and scored 23 second chance points while the Titans only had 13 second chance points.
The Titans started the game cold and the Broncos took a 13-0 lead to start the game before
Gabi Vidmar scored the first points for the Titans at the 5:04 mark. The Titans finished the quarter down by 9 (18-to-9) with Vidmar scoring 7 of those early points.
The Broncos led 43-to-24 at halftime after outscoring the Titans 25-to-15 for the period.
In the second half, the Titans nearly matched the Broncos in the 3rd and 4th period, but the deficit was too large to overcome. The Titans scored 6 straight points to start the third quarter off baskets from
Allysan Tse,
Ashlee Lewis, and
Gabi Vidmar.
 The Titans outscored the Broncos 17-to-16 for the period. In the fourth quarter, the Broncos outscored the Titans 17-to-16 for the period.
Fujika Nimmo scored all five of her points in the fourth quarter as she continues to work her way back from missing the beginning of the season.
The Titans begin conference play next Thursday at Long Beach State and Saturday at home against the University of Hawai'i. Â Tip-off is set for 7 PM against Long Beach.
