FULLERTON, Calif. - The Cal State Fullerton softball program signs five incoming freshmen to the 2024-25 roster, head coach Kelly Ford announced Monday. 

Eva Hurtado
Pitcher | Ladera Ranch, Calif. | JSerra Catholic High School

Eva Hurtado ranked 19th overall in the Extra Innings Top 100 2024 class. She holds the school record for the most innings pitched (454.2), games pitched (81), games started (75), strikeouts (341) and wins (46) at JSerra. Hurtado helped the program earn a second-place finish in the Trinity League and a spot in the CIF Quarterfinals. 

The two-year team captain was named to the All-Trinity League Second Team (2021) and the All-League First Team twice (2022, 2023). Hurtado was selected to the All-Orange County Second Team in 2023, the same year she was awarded the JSerra Team MVP award. 

"Eva is one of the top pitchers in the 2024 class," Ford said. "Her demeanor is fierce and her love-to-compete attitude is contagious."



Jenna Stevens
Utility | Highland, Calif. | Citrus Valley High School

Stevens is a four-year varsity member with one year of varsity volleyball under her belt. 

In 2022, she helped her team make it to the third round of Division III CIF playoffs. That same year, Stevens led her team in doubles, triples, home runs, RBI and slugging percentage. She ranked as the 54th-best third baseman in the 2022 Extra Innings Softball National Position ranking. Stevens was also named to the Extra Innings Extra Elite Class of 2024 and ranked as the 53rd overall prospect in the All-Regional Region 6 West. 

She won the TCS Nationals Gold with her club team, Power Surge 18U Gold. The team has also played in the PGF (2021-22), Alliance National Championship (2022-23), Triple Crown (2021, 2022, 2023), Colorado Sparkler Power Pools (2022-23) and IDT Colorado in 2023. The scholar-athlete is a three-time honor roll student with a 3.78 overall GPA. 

"Jenna is a great athlete that will impact both sides of the ball. She is a strong and versatile player with a solid skill set," associate head coach Jorge Araujo said. "With Jenna's team-first mentality and hard work ethic, there is no doubt that she will leave her mark at Cal State Fullerton." 



Sarah Coccillos
Shortstop | Oxnard, Calif. | Rio Mesa High School

Sarah Coccillos joins the Titans from Rio Mesa High School where she won league and was selected to the First Team All-Channel View League as a sophomore and junior on varsity. 

Coccillos has played 57 varsity games with a .377 batting average and .433 on-base percentage. She has collected 72 hits and 43 RBI. 

"Sarah is going to be a crafty middle infielder," Ford said. "She has outstanding game awareness and I look forward to seeing her get to work." 



Nataly Lozano
Catcher/ First Baseman | Chula Vista, Calif. | Otay Valley High School

Lozano has won five softball championships and is a CIF Division II Volleyball champion. Her softball championships include a CIF Division II title as a freshman, a CIF Open Division title as a sophomore, a CIF Division I title as a junior and two Mesa League titles. 

Lozano ranked 88th in Extra Innings Softball and earned the Mesa League Player of the Year and First Team All-CIF accolades as a junior. She has served as team captain for two years and ranks first in the Metro Mesa league in batting average (.465) and on-base percentage (.535). 

"Nataly is a strong athlete that can play both first base and the catching position," Araujo said. "She has raw, natural power at the plate and is an impact catcher with great presence and high softball IQ. I can't wait to see how she impacts our program."



Annika Sogsti
First Baseman | Garden Grove, Calif. | Pacifica High School 

Sogsti became a 2023 CIF Southern Section Division I Champion after the Mariners scored the most runs in section-final history against top-seeded Norco (15-9). She was named to the All-Empire League Team as a freshman, sophomore and junior. Sogsti earned an Offensive MVP award and serves as Senior Captain of Pacifica Softball.

She has played in 50 varsity softball games with a .412 batting average. She has driven in 44 runners on 47 hits (13 2B, 2 3B, 6 HR) and has a career .719 slugging average. 

"Annika was a great find for us in the long ball category," Ford said. "She has he kind of power that you just can't teach."
