FULLERTON, Calif. — Cal State Fullerton women's volleyball was swept (21-25, 23-25, 21-25) by UC San Diego Thursday at Titan Gym. With the loss the Titans' overall record moves to 1-17 and 0-9 in the conference.

Ameena Campbell paced the Titans offensively, producing a double-double with 13 kills on a .150 clip and 11 digs. Ryleigh Garis contributed a match-high four service aces while adding on nine digs. Nadia Koanui led Fullerton defensively with a team-high 12 digs. 

UCSD jumped out to an early 11-4 lead to start the first set. A kill by Campbell and an attack error by the Tritons kicked off a 5-0 run for the Titans that cut UCSD's lead to 11-9. Fullerton continued to trail, but a kill by Campbell and an attack error forced by a block by Ketesia Hall and Laura Williams set forward a 5-1 run that brought the score to 21-20 late in the set. UCSD was able to close out the set, though, 25-21.

The two teams started the second set trading points before a kill by Bianca Martinez set off a 4-0 scoring run to give the Titans an early 7-4 lead. UCSD were able to cut its deficit, tying the match 14-14. A 3-0 run by the Tritons gave them a 17-14 lead. Although trailing, the Titans kept the set close, with a kill by Campbell bringing the score to 24-23. A final kill by UCSD closed out the second set, 25-23.

The Tritons opened the third set taking an early lead, 7-1. The Titans continued to trail before a service error and a service ace by Ryleigh Garis kicked off a 6-0 scoring run to bring the score to 18-16. But Fullerton was unable to regain the lead, losing the final set 25-21, and the match, 3-0. 

The Titans' next match will be on the road Saturday, Oct. 21, against Long Beach State at 7:00 p.m. PT.
