WBB Picked Fifth, Nimmo Named to All-Preseason Coaches' Team

IRVINE, Calif. - The Cal State Fullerton women's basketball team was picked to finish in fifth place in the Big West Conference Preseason Coaches poll it was announced on Wednesday. The league also announced the All-Big West Women's Basketball Preseason Coaches' Team with senior guard Fujika Nimmo making the six-team list.

Fullerton, who last year finished seventh in the regular season conference standings and were eliminated in the quarterfinal round against eventual champions Hawai'i, tallied 59 votes in a tie with UC San Diego for fifth place. Hawaii, who were the Big West Tournament Champions, finished third in the regular season standings and were picked to finish in 1st place with 95 points and six first place votes. Last year's regular season champions UC Irvine were picked to finish in second place with 88 points and two first place votes.  UC Davis who finished in fourth place were picked to finish in third place with 85 points and 3 first place votes.  UC Santa Barbara, who were the Big West Championship finalist, were picked to finish in fourth place with 65 points.

The coaches selected 6 players representing four teams to the All-Big West Women's Basketball Preseason Coaches' Team.  Fujika Nimmo was named to the team along with five other guards in the conference including two from Hawai'i, two from UC Davis, and one from UC Irvine.

The Titans will officially open their season on November 10th at Pacific University.  They will play one exhibition game at home on Saturday, November 4th against Concordia before the season kicks off.
