Titans Draw with UC Santa Barbara On the Road

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - The Cal State Fullerton Titans women's soccer team drew 1-1 on the road on Sunday against UC Santa Barbara at Harder Stadium.

The Titans (3-4-7, 1-1-3 BWC) picked up a valuable point on the road and have got an unbeaten result in their last four games.

The Titans started the game strong after getting four corner kicks and a couple free kick opportunities in the Gauchos final third. But the Titans weren't really able to get anything from those opportunities and went into the break tied 0-0.

In the second half, the Gauchos had more possession of the ball to start the half and eventually scored the first goal of the game in the 65th minute.  Samantha Christie had an open header in front of the net on a ball by Lauren Helwig.

Nearly five minutes later the game changed after a second yellow card was issued to Brenna Madruga.  Makenna McGill played a through ball to Kaylee Noble inside the box.  Noble was taken down by Madruga who was on a yellow after being shown one in the 52nd minute.  Madruga was given her marching orders and Isabella Cruz stepped up for the Titans to take the penalty kick. Cruz buried it to her right easily past the goalkeeper to tie the game up at 1-1.

The Titans got a couple more corner kicks and shots in the final 20 minutes but weren't able to find the winner despite the man advantage.

For the game, the Gauchos outshot the Titans 11-to-7.  Mia Ranson made four saves in goal for the Titans.

The Titans will head home to take on the UC Irvine Anteaters on Thursday.  Kick-off is set for 7:00 p.m.
