LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The Cal State Fullerton Titans women's soccer team lost at #1 UCLA 5-1 on Sunday evening at Wallis Annenburg Stadium.
The Titans (3-2-3) lost their second game against a Top 5 opponent as they lost against then ranked #3 BYU in the 2022 season opener.
The Bruins (6-0) outshot the Titans 23-to-7 for the game with 12 shots on goal to the Titans two. Mia Ranson kept the scoreline from being worse and she had 7 saves for the game.
The Bruins found the breakthrough goal in the 31st minute after having an open header on goal. They would add a second goal towards the end of a half on a laser shot from Maricarmen Reyes from the side of the 18-yard box.
The Titans started the second half strongly with the TItans pulling within one goal in the 60th minute. Kaya Hawkinson had a free kick from the left of the 18-yard box. Her ball sailed through the defense past the keeper into the goal for her first goal of the season.
The Bruins would respond back with three unanswered goals in the final thirty minutes. Two of them came in the final ten minutes after the Titans had basically pulled all the starters.
The Titans will face the University of San Francisco on Saturday, September 17th for their final non-conference game of the season. Kick-off is set for 5:00 pm. It will also be Senior Night for the Titans on Saturday. Katelin Bebe, Maddie Kline, Samantha McKenna, Kaya Hawkinson, Emelia Owen, Kaytlin Brinkman, Nadia Amezcua, Jaida Wilson, Nayeli Carcamo, Amanda Torres, and Malina Yago will be honored in a pre-game ceremony.Â
