Box Score

NORTHRIDGE, Calif. - The Cal State Fullerton Titan's softball rallied from a 4-0 deficit to defeat the CSUN Matadors 6-4 on Friday afternoon on a scorching hot day at the Matador Diamond.

The Titans improve to 23-13 overall and 8-2 in conference play.  The Matadors fell to 13-24 overall and 3-7 in conference play.

After CSUN picked up a big 4-spot in the bottom of the third inning to take the lead, the Titans immediately responded in the next half inning and never looked back on the way to victory.

The Matadors scored four runs in the 3rd inning off 2 hits, 3 walks, and a hit batsman.  But the Titans didn't remain down long as they would put up a 5-spot right away to take the lead over CSUN.

Daisy Munoz led the inning off with a solo blast over the LF fence for her fourth home run of the season.

With runners on 1st and 2nd.  Alexa Neil had an infield single to the first basemen who threw the ball away which allowed Jessi Alcala to score to make it a 4-2 game.

Evelyn Sablan came in to pinch hit and had a chopper to the shortstop that the Matador shortstop couldn't make a play on, which allowed Peyton Toto to score to make it a 4-3 game

Hannah Becerra came up with a huge double to score Antuanett Dean and Alexa Neil to give the Titans a 5-4 lead in the fourth

The Titans would add another insurance run in the 7th after Jessi Alcala hit a solo blast over the LF fence. Alcala has now homered in three straight Big West series.

Myka Sutherlin drew the start and went 2.1 innings and allowed 3 runs on three hits, three walks, and one strikeout.  Alexia Silvas pitched the final 4.2 innings in relief and picked up the win.  After allowing her first three batters to reach via a walk, hit by pitch, and a base hit.  Silvas proceeded to retire the final 13 CSUN batters in order.

The Titans will square off against the Matadors for a doubleheader on Saturday.  Game 1 is set for 1:00 pm while Game 2 is set for 3:00 pm.
