Softball Sweeps Doubleheader Against San Diego

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

FULLERTON, Calif. - Cal State Fullerton softball swept Friday's doubleheader at Anderson Family Field against the San Diego Toreros, winning 4-1 and 10-0, respectively. The Titans used five different pitchers on Friday and they combined to allow just five hits and one run over the two games. Offensively, Fullerton recorded seven hits in the first game and 10 in the second, marking the eighth and ninth straight games the team has recorded seven or more hits. Next up, the Titans host the UNLV Rebels on Sunday at 1 p.m. PT, the final non-conference game of the season.

GAME ONE
Senior pitcher Sophie Frost was dialed in for the Titans in the circle as she retired the last 13 batters she faced and had a line of 5.0 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB and 7K.

Offensively, the Titans used a big fifth inning with five hits to score four runs. Senior catcher Julia Valenzuela started the inning off with a double and she was later driven in by senior right fielder's two-RBI double to break the deadlock. Sophomore center fielder Megan Delgadillo singled to left field to drive home Peyton Toto and later came around to score on a wild pitch to cap off the scoring.

Valenzuela and Toto were the two Titans with mult-hit games as Valenzuela had two doubles and Toto recorded a double and single.

GAME TWO
Fullerton opened up the game with six runs in the first inning, including freshman third baseman Hannah Becerra's first-career grand slam and a two-run homer for freshman shortsop Peyton Toto. It was Becerra's fifth home run of the season and brought her total RBI to 22. She leads the team in both categories.

Later that inning, Toto smacked her second home run of the season, a two-run shot, to extend the lead and continue her hot day at the plate. Daisy Munoz hit a solo shot in the third, her fourth of the season, tied for second on the team.

Kelsie Whitmore hit a solo home run in the fourth that left a dent in the scoreboard. It was her fourth of the season as well.

Evelyn Sablan recorded her first RBI of the season in the bottom of the fourth inning with the bases loaded to further extend the lead.

Delgadillo went 2-for-2 at the plate and scored two runs to improve her batting average to .388 on the year, tops on the squad.
