Matthew Schafer

Matthew Schafer joins the Titans Men's Golf program as assistant coach ahead of the 2025-26 season, following a strong four-year playing career at Cal State Fullerton from 2021-2025. 

In four seasons, Schafer competed in 38 of 44 possible tournaments and finished his career with a scoring average of 73.5. He regularly appeared in the Titans lineup and delivered several standout performances, including a career-low round of 66, a tournament-best score of 202, and a top finish of fourth place at the Nick Watney Invitational (Sept. 25-26, 2023). He capped off his senior year with a top-15 finish at the Big West Championship, shooting a 2-under-par 214. Schafer helped lead the Titans to two second place finishes at the Big West Championship in 2023 and 2025. 

A native of Long Beach, Calif., Schafer attended Long Beach Wilson High School, where he was a four-year varsity player. He served as team captain as a senior, won the Moore League individual title, and was a two-time team MVP. He helped lead Wilson to four straight Moore League team championships.

He earned his degree in business from Cal State Fullerton.
