Jabari Trotter

Jabari Trotter was hired as a Cal State Fullerton men’s basketball assistant coach in August of 2026.

Trotter comes from a basketball background, both competing and coaching at the collegiate level for over a decade. Prior to joining the Titans, Trotter served as the Assistant Coach and Recruiting Coordinator for his alma mater at Dartmouth College. 

Trotter served two separate tenures with the Dartmouth coaching staff, his first being from 2016-2018 before he returned for his most recent in 2021. During Trotter’s time on the Dartmouth coaching staff, he coached the team to a .519 winning record in 2025 which was the first since the 1999 season. Trotter led the development of one First Team All-Ivy, two Second Team All-Ivy, a Second Team All-District, and a five-time Ivy League Rookie of the Week. 

Trotter oversaw the Dartmouth defense which ranked No. 1 in the Ivy League and rose as high as 98th nationally. His defense ranked 10th in defensive rebounding, free-throws/field goals attempted, and seventh in defensive three-point percentage. After the 2024-25 season, Trotter and the Dartmouth coaching staff earned Ivy League Coaching Staff of the Year. 

Prior to returning to his alma mater in 2021, Trotter was an assistant coach at the University of Hawaii for three years. In 2016, he joined the Dartmouth coaching staff for the first time where he was responsible for practice and game preparation, player development and scouting, and served as co-coordinator for recruiting. Trotter began his collegiate coaching career at Lehigh in 2015-16. 

The Dartmouth graduate earned a degree in sociology in 2012 while playing for the Big Green. Trotter played in the second-most games in program history (112), started in 80 games, averaged 6.9 points, and posted 102 3-pointers.

In between graduating from Dartmouth College and beginning his collegiate coaching career, he played professional basketball in Dublin, Ireland with the Dublin Thunder BC while coaching the KUBS U17 girls basketball team and Lady Haroldites of the Ireland DII Women’s League. Trotter continued his education while abroad as he enrolled in the Dublin Business School, earning his master’s degree in business management practice. 

Trotter is a California native, growing up in Northridge, California.
