Samantha Huerta was named an assistant coach of distance and cross-country in the fall of 2023. 

Huerta ran cross country and track & field for Cal State Fullerton from 2016-2021, garnering a slew of individual accolades and breaking numerous school records during her time as a Titan. She was named The Big West Women’s Track Athlete of the Year in 2019 after winning conference titles in the 800m and 1500m. She then qualified for the NCAA Championships in the 800m, becoming the first woman in program history to do so. She earned Second-Team All-America accolades that season as she finished 14th in the event. 

In 2021, Huerta qualified for the NCAA Championships in the 800m again, finishing in 19th place at the meet. The result earned her All-America Honorable Mention accolades. Huerta finished her Titan athletic career holding program records in the 800m (2:03.96), mile (4:46.77) and 5k (17:03.4, XC). 

In addition to her role as an assistant coach, Huerta also serves in the Cal State Fullerton athletic department as athletics administrative coordinator, a role she has held since the fall of 2021.
