FULLERTON, Calif. – The Cal State Fullerton softball team closed out nonconference play with a shutout win over Seattle U, 4-0, and a comeback victory over LMU, 7-5, on Sunday. The Titans went 5-0 at the 20th Judi Garman Classic and improved to 11-9 overall.Â
The Titans posted a .278 batting average against Seattle U and LMU on Sunday, recording 11 runs on 12 hits and two home runs. In two games, they had 11 RBI, five walks and two stolen bases. Over the weekend, Fullerton slashed .333/.396/.462 with 27 runs, 39 hits, five home runs, 13 walks, 23 RBI and 14 stolen bases.Â
Colby McClinton remained a powerful force in the box for the Titans as she slashed .400/.400/1.000 across five games. She accounted for three of the five home runs and led the team with five RBI. McClinton also leads the team overall in batting average (.367), slugging (.733), hits (22), doubles (5), triples (1), home runs (5), sacrifice bunts (4), RBI (19) and runs scored (16).Â
Big West Pitcher of the Week
Trisha McCleskey was lights out in the circle, recording three wins in three starts and five appearances. She tossed 22 innings, keeping opposing batters to a .210 batting average with 17 hits and five earned runs. She added 20 strikeouts to her stat line, while only walking five.Â

The Titans found an early 1-0 lead over the Redhawks in the first inning with a solo home run by McClinton. The long ball marked her fifth of the season and her second home run in back-to-back games.Â

The bats grew quiet over the next four innings before the Titans found enough momentum to plate three runs in the fifth.
Jenica Silvas opened the inning with a bunt to Seattle's pitcher, and
Sarah Perez followed with an infield single to the shortstop. McClinton (2-for-3, HR, 2 R, 2 RBI) then successfully laid down a bunt to the third baseman, whose throw to an unoccupied first base allowed Silvas to score. With a 2-0 lead and two outs on the board,
Alexia Lopez and
Sarah Coccillos doubled Fullerton's advantage to 4-0 on consecutive sacrifice bunts.
McCleskey (6-6) silenced the Redhawks through seven innings, allowing no runs on three hits with four strikeouts.Â

LMU opened the scoring in the third inning on a two-run home run before adding a run on a bases-loaded walk.
Eva Hurtado, who started in the circle for the Titans, exited the game after pitching 2.2 innings. She allowed three runs on four hits and a walk before
Leanna Garcia (1.1 IP, 1 H, 1 ER, 4 BB, 1 K) entered in relief.Â
The Titans offense answered with four runs in the bottom of the inning to take a 4-3 lead over the Lions. Lopez drove in a run on a walk before Coccillos grounded out to cut LMU's lead to 3-2.
Nataly Lozano sent a ball through the right side of the infield that scored two runs for a 4-3 lead.Â

LMU quickly tied the game in the top of the fourth with an RBI single to center field, but the Titans worked their way around the bases in the fifth to take a 5-4 lead on a sacrifice fly by Lopez.Â
Ava Arce showcased her power at the plate in the sixth with a two-run home run to center field.
Nataly Lozano (2-for-3, R, 2 RBI), who previously reached on a single up the middle, scored on the play.Â

The Lions took back a run in the seventh inning on a fielder's choice to trail 7-5, but McCleskey closed the game with a ground ball to first base. McCleskey (7-6) pitched the final three innings of the game and allowed one unearned run.Â
Fullerton opens Big West play at home against Cal Poly on March 7-8. The Titans and Mustangs kick off their conference opener on Friday with a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m. before closing the series on Sunday at noon. Â
