BIG WEST RELEASE
IRVINE, Calif. - It was announced by the conference on Wednesday that freshman
Amelia Zylberman was named the Big West Women's Tennis Player of the Week.
Despite the Titans going 1-2 in their first week of the season, Zylberman had an unbeaten start to the season in No. 4 singles.  In the first match of the season against UC Riverside, Zylberman defeated Susannah Su 6-3, 6-3 in straight sets.  In their third game of the week against Grand Canyon, Zylberman salvaged a final point for the Titans after defeating Dania Deaifi in a marathon three sets. She defeated her 4-6, 6-4, 7-6 (7-3). In the Titans home opener against LMU, Zylberman was the only Titan to win a set against the Lions in singles.  She was leading her opponent Sofia Perovani 6-3, 1-2 before the match was called due to the Lions clinching the match point on another court.
Zylberman became the first Titan women's tennis player of the week since 2/14/2024 when Josie Usereau won the award last.
The Titans are 1-2 to start the spring season. Â They are in Hawaii this weekend where they are taking on Hawaii Pacific on Friday and then the University of Hawai'i on Saturday.Â
