Softball Ranks No. 5 in Softball America Mid-Major Top 25, No. 8 by D1Softball

Titans earn fourth-straight Top 25 mid-major ranking, best among Big West programs

FULLERTON, Calif. – The Cal State Fullerton softball program ranked No. 5 in Softball America's Mid-Major Rankings and No. 8 in D1Softball's 2026 Week Three Mid-Major Rankings, the publications announced Monday morning. The rankings following the Titans pushing No. 3 Oklahoma to extra innings and upsetting No. 16 Oregon at the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic. 

The Titans earned the highest ranking among Big West programs by both publications, checking in ahead of Long Beach State, which was ranked No. 12 by D1Softball and No. 17 by Softball America. Fullerton has ranked in D1Softball's Mid-Major Top 25 Rankings each week this season, coming in at No. 11 (preseason), No. 18 (week one), and No. 15 (week two). 

Fullerton was led by veterans Colby McClinton (.467/.500/.733), Alexia Lopez (.333/.353/.867), and Sarah Coccillos (.250/.250/.500) over the weekend. Lopez drove in a team-leading nine RBI on five hits, two doubles and her first two collegiate home runs. 

McClinton recorded four RBI on seven hits, two doubles and a triple, leading the team with a .467 batting average and three stolen bases across five games. Coccillos matched McClinton's four RBI, recording four hits, one double and a home run. 

Nataly Lozano (.267/.313/.533) and Ava Arce (.231/.333/.538) added a home run each to Fullerton's efforts, while Sarah Perez posted a .333 batting average on five hits with three walks and three runs scored. 

Overall, the Titans have slashed .278/.325/.398 with 114 hits, 17 doubles, one triple, 10 home runs and 56 RBI. On the bases, they have successfully stolen a base in 12 of their 14 attempts and scored 63 runs. 

The Titans close out nonconference play, hosting the 20th Judi Garman Classic from Thursday, Feb. 27, to Sunday, March 1. The Titans open the tournament on Thursday against BYU at noon.
