D1 Softball ReleaseÂ
FULLERTON, Calif. – Titan greats
Gina Oaks Garcia and Jenny Topping have been named to the Non-Power 4 Hitters All-Quarter Century Team by D1 Softball.Â
The All-American duo played together from 2001-03, leading the Titans to three consecutive Big West Conference titles under head coach Michelle Gromacki. They reunited ahead of Fullerton's second consecutive regular-season Big West Championship campaign in 2024-25, when head coach Oaks Garcia named Topping to her development staff.Â
Oaks Garcia was a standout as both a hitter and pitcher from 2000-03. She hit .295 with 24 home runs and 108 RBI while posting a 1.37 ERA and 74 wins in the circle. The two-time All-American ranks top three in the program's career runs scored (150) and top 10 in six additional categories. She also threw a no-hitter at Utah State on March 29, 2002.Â
The four-time All-Region honoree and three-time First Team All-Big West selection became the first player in Big West history to earn first-team honors at two different positions. From 1999-2005, she competed with the USA National Team and later spent a decade playing professionally in the U.S. and internationally.Â
Topping earned four All-American awards, including one as a freshman at the University of Washington, and was named Big West Player of the Year every season she played for the Titans. She remains one of the most decorated hitters in program history, setting school records with a .443 batting average, .573 on-base percentage and .771 slugging percentage. She also ranks top five in doubles (44) and home runs (33).Â
Topping helped Team USA win its third straight Olympic gold medal at the 2004 Games in Athens. She also earned All-Star honors in the National Pro Fastpitch League, winning a championship with the Akron Racers in 2005, and was a two-time Top 9 player in Japan. Her career accolades include induction into the Olympic Hall of Fame and the Cal State Fullerton Athletics Hall of Fame, along with multiple national and international honors.Â
