FULL NFCA RELEASE
LOUISVILLE, Ky. â The National Fastpitch Coaches Association has announced 376 student-athletes from 160 programs have received 2024 NFCA Division I All-Region accolades. Â
Cal State Fullerton softball had two student-athletes named to the All-West Region team, senior outfielder
Megan Delgadillo and junior ace
Haley Rainey.
The awards honor softball student-athletes from the Association's 10 regions with first, second and third-team selections. NFCA member head coaches from each respective region voted on the teams, and all student-athletes now become eligible for the 2024 NFCA Division I All-America squads.Â
Megan Delgadillo was named to the NFCA All-West Region First Team. Â Delgadillo received NFCA All-West Region Second Team honors her sophomore year (2022), the same year, she was named the Big West Field Player of the Year and to the All-Big West First Team.
Delgadillo went on a season-high 13-game hit streak (Feb. 9 - Feb. 24) to open the season. While slashing a career-high .420/.438/.456 after the regular season, Delgadillo collected 79 hits, 10 doubles, five triples, 45 runs scored and 38 steals for 99 total bases. She had 23 multi-hit games, four multi-RBI games and has reached base safely in the last 16 games.Â
Delgadillo sits atop the Titans record book in career hits (266), runs scored (168) and holds the program and Big West conference record for stolen bases (145).Â
Haley Rainey received her first NFCA All-West Region Third Team honors. Earlier this week, she became the seventh Titan to be named the Big West Softball Pitcher of the Year.
Rainey became the eighth individual to throw a perfect game in program history after tossing a six-inning perfect game against Pacific in February. She threw her second no-hitter of the season and first against a Big West opponent at UC Santa Barbara, the 26th individual Titan to silence bats through an entire game.Â
She finished the regular season with a 17-6 overall record and a 12-2 record in Big West play. Rainey pitched a career-high 7.1 innings against BYU and collected a career-high 12 strikeouts in her no-hitter against the Gauchos on April 20.Â
Rainey had 147 strikeouts, surpassing 300 collegiate punchouts between Idaho State University and Cal State Fullerton (234 K). In conference play, Rainey had 90 punchouts through 89 innings pitched.Â
Delgadillo and Rainey were two of three Big West representatives to be named to the All-West Region. Jessica Clements (Cal Poly) was the other representative named to the All-West Region second team.
This marked the 28th season since 1981, that the Titans had at least two players earn All-West Region honors. Â
