The Big West Release

IRVINE, Calif. - Junior pitcher Haley Rainey was named The Big West Pitcher of the Week (April 22) for the second time this season, the conference announced Monday. 

Rainey threw her second no-hitter of the season to open the series against UC Santa Barbara on Saturday. Her first came in the first week of the season when she pitched a six-inning perfect game against Pacific at Anderson Family Field.  Through seven hit-less innings, the right-hander struck out a career-high 12 batters, walked six and earned her 15th win of the season. 

She entered the second game against the Gauchos, pitching an inning and a third before helping the Titans secure their sixth series win. Rainey pitched her 10th complete game of the year after starting the final game of the series for the Titans on Sunday.

Across 14.1 innings, Rainey kept the Gauchos to six base hits, three runs, seven walks. She posted a 1.88 ERA over the weekend with 18 total strikeouts. 

Rainey holds an overall 2.17 ERA and a .206 opposing batting average through 137.0 innings. She leads the conference in ERA, strikeouts (129) and wins (15).
