Trisha Senyo SB Asst. Coach

Softball Welcomes Trisha Senyo to Coaching Staff

Senyo joins the staff as an assistant coach focusing on data analytics and opponent scouting

FULLERTON, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton Softball and head coach Gina Oaks Garcia announced the addition of Trisha Senyo as assistant coach on Friday morning.

"Trisha Senyo is an outstanding addition to our coaching staff, bringing a wealth of experience that will blend seamlessly with our team's dynamic," Oaks Garcia said. "She will be taking the lead on data analytics, opponent scouting and pitching during daily batting practice – all areas that will be invaluable to the team."

The Fullerton native previously served as the Associate Athletic Director/Senior Woman Administrator and Head Softball Coach at Whittier College (2018-24) after serving as an assistant coach for the program in 2009. Under head coach Jennifer Bridges, Senyo assisted in earning the program's first SCIAC Tournament appearance with a 24-18 record.

Across eight seasons, Senyo led Whittier College Softball to a combined 114-95 overall record with a top 5 ranking in SOS within Region X. Under her leadership, the program produced 20 All-Conference nominees, three All-Region nominees and two NCAA Statistical Leader awards. This includes 55 NFCA Academic All-American recipients and three NFCA Academic Team honors. As head of the program, she oversaw all NCAA and SCIAC compliance matters, while monitoring student-athlete eligibility, providing regular compliance education to all student-athletes, staff and coaches, and prepared all annual compliance reports. She also served as the Deputy Title IX Coordinator for Athletics.

"I'm very thankful to be joining this prestigious coaching staff and this transition feels like a homecoming for me," Senyo said. "I was one of those little girls in a Fullerton Hills Softball uniform coming to Cal State Fullerton games as a young girl. I have such respect for the history of Titan Softball and am so grateful for the opportunity to be a part of this staff, team and institution."

Prior to her stint at Whittier College, Senyo served as head coach of the Chaffey College softball program from 2015-17, where she produced an overall winning record of 41-37-1. In 2016, she earned Coach of the Year honors, a Foothill Conference Championship, seven All-Conference nominations and one Academic All-American. That same year, Senyo improved her squad's 2015 RPI ranking from 40th to 26th and then to 23rd in 2017. On top of coaching, Senyo prided herself as an adjunct professor in the kinesiology nutrition and food department.

Senyo also coached at Riverside City College (2014-15) and Sonoma State University (2010-14). In 2010, she helped lead the Seawolves to a program-record 43 wins before recording 149 additional wins in the next four years. During that span, the program was nationally ranked in the top 25 three times while also seeing back-to-back CCAA tournament championships and 5 NCAA tournament appearances. Senyo assisted in achieving 24 All-Conference selections, 20 All-Region selections and three All-Americans. The squad also set new records for single season home runs, team batting average, on base percentage, most hits, total bases and walks, while also increasing the total team stolen bases from an average of 54 to 139 within a season.

"Coach Senyo's daily energy and enthusiasm are truly infectious, making a powerful impact on and off the field," Oaks Garcia said. "We're thrilled to have Coach Senyo on board, and there's no doubt she will help elevate our program to new heights."

Senyo graduated Cum Laude from the University of La Verne in 2008 with departmental honors and a B.A. in Studio Art before obtaining her M.S. in Fitness and Sports Nutrition from Canisius College. She was a four-year letter winner on the softball team, while earning All-SCIAC honors and holds a USAW Level 1 Club Coach Certification.

She currently resides in La Verne, CA with her husband Mike Senyo and son Nikolai.

"I'm excited to get to this Spring's season underway to experience the Big West Conference, learn more, and grow the sport of softball, while being a part of these student-athletes' collegiate successes," Senyo said. "I'm thrilled to see what contributions I can make in upholding the expectations of Titan Softball."
