FULLERTON, Calif.- The Titans will take the road this weekend for two conference matches. Cal State Fullerton will take on Cal Poly this Saturday at 1:30pm P.T. and UC Santa Barbara on Sunday at 10:00am P.T.
Fullerton is 12-4 this season with only three matches left in the regular season.
The Titans sit on top of the Big West rankings with four wins and only one loss.
When playing away from their home courts, the Titans count four wins and three losses.
Cal State Fullerton has won four of their last five matches.
Last week, the Titans faced UC Irvine and picked the 4-0 win.
Cal Poly owns a 6-9 record so far in 2019.
The Mustangs are 7th in the Big West conference with two wins and three losses.
The team was able to dominate UC Riverside and CSUN but fell short against Long Beach State, Hawai'i and UC Davis.
The Mustangs are on two consecutive losses after losing 2-5 against Hawai'i and 3-4 against Fresno State.
Cal Poly looks strong at home with three wins and only one loss.
Emily Louie-Meadors and Susanne Boyden are Cal Poly's best players.
Louie-Meadors is 8-4 this season including a 7-4 record at No.1.
Boyden is 8-2 this season with a 6-2 record at No.2.
UC SANTA BARBARA
UC Santa Barbara is 9-7 this season.
The Gauchos are right behind the Titans in the Big West rankings so far with three wins and one loss.
Santa Barbara won against UC Davis, Long Beach State and UC Riverside but dropped a match at Hawai'i last week.
The Gauchos will be playing on Saturday as well. They will be hosting UC Irvine.
Amit Lev-Ari counts 16 wins this season including 10 in dual singles. This total is the best of the team for the Gauchos.
The Titans and Cal Poly played 20 times against each other with the first match played in 1989.
Fullerton counts 15 losses and only five wins.
Coach Dianne Matias had a great impact on the program as the Titans won their last five matches against Cal Poly.
The last time the two teams met was last year at Indian Wells for the Big West play offs and the Titans blanked their opponent 4-0.
Cal State Fullerton has never won against UC Santa Barbara after 27 matches.
The first match between the two teams dates back to 1981.
Last year, the Titans fell short 3-4 against the Gauchos.
