PORTLAND, Oreg.- Cal State Fullerton dominated Portland University 4-3 this Wednesday before facing Seattle this Friday.
Cal State Fullerton (10-3) just picked up their second away win of the season.
The Titans moved to a 2-5 all-time record against the Portland Pilots.
The Portland Pilots took an early lead in this dual match as they picked up the first match point of the day after the doubles.
Sarah Nuno and Karla Portalatin were pairing up on Court 1 to face Jelena Lukic and Anna Oberg. The Titans dominated the Pilots 6-1.
On Court 3, Eira Tobrand and Luxizi Meng saw the duo of Angela Schuster and Laura Okazaki take the 6-2 win.It all came down to the result on Court 2 as Caisey Lee Emery and Masako Makiba were facing Marija Elenova and Emily Soares. The Pilots were able to win the deciding doubles 6-3 and give Portland the first point in this dual.
At No.3, Genevieve Zeidan put the Titans back on track with her quick win in two sets 6-2,6-2 over Marija Elenova.
Sarah Nuno lost the first but kept her composure to win the two other sets and give the Titans a 2-1 lead in this dual. Nuno won 4-6,6-2,6-1against Emily Soares at No.2
Karla Portalatin fell short at No.1 as Jelena Lukic took the third set after a long battle. The match was tied at 2-2.
Eira Tobrand was the next one to finish her match as she picked up the win in two sets 6-3,6-0. The Titans only needed one more point to secure the win.
At No.5, Luxizi Meng and Anna Oberg split the two first sets. The Pilot won the first set 6-2 before Meng won the second on the same score. In the final set, Oberg was able to keep Portland in the match winning 6-2.
It all came down to the result on Court 4 as Caisey Lee Emery was facing Angela Schuster. Emery was off to a good start winning the first set 6-4. Schuster dominated the second one 6-4 and pushed the Titan to a third and final set. Down 2-5 in the deciding set, Caisey Lee Emery was forced to an incredible comeback. That is exactly what she did. The sophomore won five games in row to make it 7-5.
Game, Set and Match for the Titans as they get their second victory on the road this season.
The Titans will be back in action this Friday, March 29th as they will take on Seattle University. The match will take place in Seattle at 10:30am P.T.
