Fullerton Dominates Pacific 5-2

FULLERTON, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton get their sixth consecutive win after this dual against the Pacific Tigers.

The Titans are 8-2 this season and have won their last six home games.
This marks the fifth win for the Titans against the Tigers since Coach Dianne Matias have joined the program.

Jadie Acidera is still undefeated in dual matches as she has now won her seven singles played at No.6.
Eira Tobrand is on an impressive five-match winning streak.

Cal State Fullerton started strong and won two doubles early in this dual.

Karla Portalatin and Sarah Nuno blanked Jacquie Tan and Dohee Lee on court No.1 6-0.
They were quickly followed by the Fullerton duo of Caisey Lee Emery and Masako Makiba on Court No.2. The Titans were able to pick up the 6-3 win and give Cal State Fullerton the lead.

Fullerton was then leading 1-0 before starting the singles.

Jadie Acidera would increase the Titans lead after her impressive win against Ioana Popescu at No.6. Acidera allowed her opponent to score only two games as she won both sets 6-1.

Luxizi Meng also finished her singles in two sets. She dominated Karina Vyrlan 6-4,6-3 to give the Titans their third match point of the day.

The four other singles saw the athletes going into the third set.

At No.1, Karla Portalatin let her opponent win the first set 6-1. She was able to bounce back and win the second set 6-4. Everything came down to the third set. Pacific's Anneroos Nederstigt took the third set 6-4 and gave the Tigers some hope.

Soon after Nederstigt, her teammate did exactly the same and dominated Sarah Nuno at No.2
The Titans only needed one more while the Tigers were back in the match.

It is Eira Tobrand who gave the Titans the clinching point and secured the win for the Titans after winning in three sets against Maya Lopez at No.5.

Caisey Lee Emery was the last one on the courts and took the win in three sets after battling in two tiebreakers against Jacquie Tan.

The Titans just ended their seven-match homestand and will now take the road for their next dual match. Fullerton will be looking to stay undefeated in conference play as they will play CSUN this Saturday, March 16th at 11:00am P.T.
