WESTWOOD, Calif. - Cal State Fullerton's season came to an end Saturday afternoon falling 7-3 to Weber State in the Los Angeles Regional.
After a scoreless first inning for both sides, Weber State struck for four runs against Dani Martinez in the second and two more off Taylor Dockins giving them an early 6-0 lead. Martinez lasted just 1.1 innings giving up the four runs on five hits before handing the ball over to Dockins.
Weber State would tack on another run in the fourth to make it a 7-0 ballgame.
Fullerton would finally break through in the bottom of the sixth as Zoe Richard got things started with a single followed by a 2-run Daisy Munoz home run. The home run was her 10th of the season matching the program record by a freshman set by Sue Lewis back in 1981.
The Titans would plate another run on an RBI double from Kelsie Whitmore as she split the gap in right-center to drive in Julia Valenzuela. The rally continued as Fullerton would load the bases for the Big West Player of the Year, but a groundout would end the frame.
Weber State would threaten with runners on second and third and only one out in the top of the seventh, but Sophie Frost came up big with a strikeout and a soft comebacker to get out of it unscathed.
Fullerton would get a two-out double from Munoz and walk from Irieanna Siofele as they tried to spark a seventh inning comeback, but ultimately came up short falling 7-3 to the Wildcats and ending their season.
The Titans finish their season with a 38-18 overall record.
