FULLERTON, Calif. - Cal State Fullerton (16-10) attempted a late-inning rally, but came up short falling, 4-3, to Harvard to close out day two of the Easton Invitational.
Sophie Frost came out strong with three quality innings to get the game started, but Harvard matched her pitch for pitch as we were scoreless through three innings.
Harvard got on the board first with three runs in the top half of the fourth. The Titans wasted no time responding though plating a run in the bottom half.
With a runner on second, Irie Siofele sent one back up the middle to bring in Fullerton's first run of the ballgame and cut into the deficit.
The Crimson would get the run back in the top half of the fifth extending their lead back to three runs.
After being held in check in the fifth, the Titans plated two in the sixth. Siofele recorded her second RBI single of the night to bring in Sam Kennedy, who doubled to lead off the inning.
Pinch hitter Zoe Richard would follow up the RBI knock with a sac fly into right-center making it a one-run ballgame.
Unfortunately, Fullerton would go down in order to end the ballgame and fall to Harvard, 4-3.
Irie Siofele: 2-for-3, 2 RBI
Sam Kennedy: 1-for-3, 2B, R
The Titans are back in action tomorrow night against DePaul for the night cap of day three of the Easton Invitational.
