SANTA ANA, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton women's golf finished eighth at the UC Irvine Invitational Tuesday afternoon at the Santa Ana Country Club with a score of 35-over par 899.
Cal Poly took first place in the tournament after shooting a 5-under par 859. Caroline Cantlay of Cal Poly finished first individually with a score of 10-under par 206.
Pauline Welker led the Titans individually at 6-over par 222 to place tied for 27th. Welker was tied for 28th heading into the third and final round but was able to move up after shooting a 2-over par 74. Welker shot a 72 in round one and a 76 in round two.
Sophomore Courtney Sharkey finished tied for 34th with a score of 8-over par 224 after shooting a 6-over par 78 in round three Tuesday. Britney Sok placed tied for 42nd after shooting 10-over par 226.
Competing as an individual, Texie Petchel finished tied for 42nd alongside Sok at 10-over par 226. Petchel moved up from tied for 59th following the first two rounds after shooting a 72 in the third and final round. Lisa Djerf place tied for 48th with a score of 12-over par 228 after shooting a 4-over par 76 in round three.
Fullerton is now done with its fall schedule and has about three months off until it returns to action in late January with a match play against Cal Baptist.
