Women's Basketball Welcomes Fifth Signee

May 22, 2009

FULLERTON, CA - Incoming Cal State Fullerton head women's basketball coach Marcia Foster has announced that Alicya Crisp has signed a National Letter of Intent to continue her academic and playing career with the Titans beginning with the 2009-10 season.

"We are so pleased to sign another great guard from the city of Sacramento," Foster said. "Alicya brings an amazing level of speed and athleticism to our backcourt. Her ability to penetrate deep into defenses and finish or pass, as well as shoot the three, will help to spread the floor and create opportunities for our other talented shooters. Her quickness and toughness on the defensive end will pose challenges for opponents.

"An outstanding student with aspirations to become an architectural engineer, Alicya embodies what it means to be a Titan, continually striving for academic and athletic excellence."

Crisp joins previously announced signees Jaslyn Cosey (Torrance, CA/Millikan HS), Lauren Bushong (Yucca Valley, CA/Yucca Valley HS), Simone Lutu (Carson, CA/The Windward School), and Mya Olivier (Laguna Beach, CA/Mater Dei HS) for the 2009-10 season.

Crisp, a 5-6 guard out of Grant HS, is a three-year letter winner for the Pacers, averaging double digits in scoring in each of her varsity seasons while earning All-Metro League honors as a junior and senior.

Last season, Crisp averaged 16 points and shot 48 percent from the field to help Grant HS to a 24-6 record and an 8-2 mark in Metro League play to finish second. The Pacers advanced to the third round of the Sac-Joaquin Section Division II playoffs last season.

Crisp, who scored a season-best 42 points against McClymonds HS, also grabbed 10 rebounds twice and had a single-game best 11 steals against Pleasant Grove HS. She also averaged 3.6 assists, 4.6 rebounds, and 4.4 steals per contest during her senior season.

As a junior, Crisp averaged better than 12 points per contest while shooting 51 percent from the field and averaged just under 11 points per game as a sophomore when she also averaged a career-best 5.0 rpg.
