Irvine, Calif. - Cal State Fullerton women's basketball lost to Long Beach State in the opening round of the Big West Conference Tournament on Tuesday night by a score of 60-56. Three Titans scored in double figures but it wasn't enough to hold off the 49ers.
The Titans held a 25-24 lead at the half but were out-scored by seven in the second half. The Titans had a rough shooting night, going 21-54 (39%) from the field, 5-16 (31%) from distance and just 7-14 (50%) from the free-throw line. The 49ers didn't shoot much better but as head coach Jeff Harada said, they made the timely shots that Fullerton was unable to make.
Raina Perez did it all for the Titans as she led the team with 15 points and eight assists. She also contributed three rebounds and three steals with just one turnover in 39 minutes of play. Carolyn Gill posted a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds while Daeja Smith also had 10 points and six rebounds.
