LONG BEACH, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton women's basketball fell to Long Beach State 67-47 Thursday evening at Walter Pyramid in Long Beach.
The Titans got off to a slow start, falling behind by as many as 19 points in the first quarter. However, Fullerton didn't give in as they were able to battle back to get the score within just four points in third quarter before Long Beach was ultimately able to pull away.
Junior point guard Jade Vega tried to lead her team to victory in the second half as she went off for 12 of her team-high 14 points while scoring eight in the third quarter alone. Freshman Triann Thompson chipped in 10 points offensively for the Titans.
Shanaijah Davison and Cecily Wilson led the way for Long Beach State on the offensive side as they combined for 40 points. Davison went 6-of-11 from the field including 3-of-5 from three-point range. Wilson had a career-high 24 points on 9-of-13 shooting.
With the loss the Titans are now tied with Long Beach State in the Big West standings at 2-10 in conference play.
Fullerton looks to bounce back and end its nine-game losing streak Thursday when it hosts UC Riverside at 7 p.m. at Titan Gym.
