FULLERTON, Calif. – Following a hard-fought loss to UC Irvine, Fullerton women's basketball (7-14, 2-6) looks to end its five game losing streak as it heads to Hawai'i for a matchup with the Rainbow Wahine (9-14, 2-8) Thursday night at 9 p.m. PT.
The Titans look to sweep the season series over Hawai'i after taking a 69-57 victory in the first matchup.
Junior point guard Jade Vega led the way offensively for the Titans in the first meeting with 19 points while adding four assists and three rebounds. Daeja Smith and Triann Thompson added 14 points each to help lead Fullerton to victory in the Big West opener.
Smith also added 10 rebounds for her first of four double-double performances in conference play. Smith is third in the Big West in rebounds with 9.2 per game. Hannah Thompson provided a big punch off the bench for the Titans as she dropped 11 points on 3-of-7 shooting.
Sarah Toeaina did a majority of the damage for Hawai'i in the first meeting with 23 points on 9-of-16 shooting. Toeaina is fourth in the conference in points per game, averaging 15.4 per game.
Thursday's matchup will have big implications in the Big West standings. The Titans is in seventh place with a conference record of 2-6. Hawai'i sits right behind them in eighth place with a conference record of 2-8.
