FULLERTON, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton's Jade Vega recorded her sixth double-digit game although the Titans dropped their ninth-straight game, falling to Eastern Washington 68-57 in Titan Gym on Sunday afternoon.
The Titans surrendered a season-high 14 three-pointers while the duo of Vega and Amanda Tivenius led the Titans with 11 and 13 points respectively. Karima Gabriel was a bucket away from a double-double while collecting a season-high 12 rebounds.
"We are still a young team," said head coach Daron Park. "We're still going to fight and we're still going to teach."
Eastern Washington opened up the game with an 8-2 run in the first two and a half minutes of play until back-to-back three's from Sami Logan and Michelle Berry cut the deficit to only two.
Yet turnovers plagued the Titans in the first quarter once again, surrendering nine which allowed the Eagles to have a five-point lead after the first period of action.
Portia Neale hit her first three of the game to kick off the second quarter before surrendering a 12-5 run to give the Eagles a 14-point lead.
Jade Vega stepped up for the Titans late in the second quarter as she hit a deep three and added three more points to keep the Titans in the game.
The Titans defense couldn't keep up in the first half as they gave up seven three-pointers and allowed the Eagles to shoot 53.8% from the field to end the first half trailing Eastern Washington 26-36.
The start of the third quarter didn't prove to be any different as the Titans surrendered back-to-back three's from the Hodgins' sisters that translated into a quick 11 points to give the Eagles a 19-point lead.
Vega continued to lead the Titans offensively as she recorded her sixth double-digit game with her second three of the game. Logan and Lauren Nubla also joined the three-point party, each scoring one of their own to end the third quarter trailing the Eagles 38-57.
Heading into the final quarter of play, the Titans had their best scoring quarter, led by Amanda Tivenius who chipped in ten points.

NOTES: Nubla started her second-straight game in the absence of Dani Craig, who has now missed her third consecutive game due to an undisclosed injury...
