FULLERTON, Calif. – Just over 72 minutes into the game, Paul-Andre Guerin stood inside his six-yard box staring down Dylan Penn as he waited to take the penalty kick.
Not fazed by any moment, Guerin got a great jump and made the save of the night to keep the game scoreless and finish the exhibition match against Cal 0-0 Monday night at Titan Stadium.
The save on the penalty kick was not the only great save from Guerin Monday night. He finished the game with three saves and the other two were also spectacular, stopping player who had one-on-one chances that had great looks on goal.
The Titans dominated the first half of action, out-shooting the Golden Bears 8-2 while controlling the ball a majority of the time. Fullerton out-shot Cal for the game 9-7.
Because it was a preseason friendly both teams decide to play an extra 20 minutes of action. The Titans had two great looks on net in extra time, one coming from Robert Coronado from outside the 18-yard box but the keeper was just barely able to get a hand on the ball to push it over the net.
Head Coach George Kuntz shared his thoughts on the teams first match of the 2018 season.
Fullerton now returns to training looking to get into top form before they face Missouri State in the first regular season match of the year on Aug. 27.
