FULLERTON, Calif. – Two goals within 33 seconds sealed the deal for the Titans as they beat Grand Canyon 2-0 to close out their non-conference schedule on Sunday afternoon at Titan Stadium.
The Titans dominated offensively by outshooting the Antelopes 12-5 and had a season-high seven corner kicks en route to their fourth shutout of the season to improve their overall record to 5-4.
Fullerton came out aggressive early in the first half, logging three shots and four corners within the first 15 minutes of the game. In the 36th minute of the game, Titan goalkeeper David Rodriguez Elias came up with a huge save off of his chest to keep it scoreless through the first half.
In the second half the Titans used some fresh legs in Julian Okai who immediately sparked a fire for Fullerton who in the 53rd minute had their best chance in the match yet with a shot off the crossbar.
The Titans got back on the board quick as only seconds later when Brandon West set up a cross to the middle of the box to sophomore Diego Sanchez who lifted it over the Grand Canyon goalkeeper to net his team-leading fifth goal of the season.
Rodriguez Elias tallied three saves in today's match leading him to his fourth shutout of the season, all of them at Titan Stadium.
Fullerton heads into Big West play with a 5-4 record and take on Sacramento State at 7 p.m. on Thursday night at Titan Stadium.
