FULLERTON, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton men's basketball snapped its losing skid with a 79-64 victory over the Portland Pilots on Saturday night in Titan Gym. The Titans shot 67% from the field in the first half to take a 10-point lead at the break and they would not relinquish it.
Fullerton led for 37 minutes on Saturday as the team was in control throughout, led by guards Kyle Allman, Jr., Khalil Ahmad and Austen Awosika. Allman poured in a game-high 26 points (7-12 FGA, 6-8 3FGA, 6-8 FTA) and had four assists. Ahmad scored 21 points to go with four rebounds and five assists. Awosika flirted with a triple double but settled for his second double-double of the season, posting a line of 12 points, 11 rebounds, seven assists and two steals.
As a team, the Titans doubled up the Pilots on the glass with a 44-22 advantage. The Titans also had 16 assists on their 26 made field goals. For the game, the squad shot 44.8% (26-58) from the field, 40.9% (9-22) from distance and 78.3% (18-23) from the stripe.
Fullerton hits the road again to play at Washington on Jan. 1, 2019 at 7 p.m. PT followed by the start of Big West Conference play at Hawai'i on Jan. 9 at 10 p.m. PT.
