FULLERTON, Calif. – The Titans AJ Curtis came up with a clutch hit in the bottom of the sixth inning to score the go-ahead run to lead Fullerton (17-22, 5-7) to a 4-3 victory over UC Irvine (28-10, 10-5) Sunday afternoon at Goodwin Field.
With the win the Titans are now an outstanding 9-1 on Sunday's. Typical closer Michael Weisberg started the game on the mound and went 2.1 innings giving up just two hits and two runs with only one of them being earned.
Timothy Josten picked up his first win of the season as he pitched 3.2 innings in relief, allowing just three hits and one run while striking three. Kye Luckham finished the final three innings and gave up just one hit while recording his first save of the season.
Daniel Cope had an impressive day both behind the plate and at the plate for the Titans, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and two runs. Cope is now hitting .272 on the year with 19 RBI and 15 runs.
The Titans were able to get to the Anteaters best starter on Sunday as they recorded seven hits and four runs off of Trenton Denholm, handing him just his second loss of the season.
Fullerton and UC Irvine will be against each other Tuesday night in a nonconference meeting Tuesday night at Anteater Ballpark with first pitch scheduled for 6:00 p.m. PT.
