FULLERTON, Calif. – All good things must come to an end. UC Riverside was able to squeak out a 4-2 victory over Cal State Fullerton, snapping what was an eight-game win streak, Sunday afternoon at Goodwin Field.

For the Titans (27-21, 14-4 Big West), the loss was just Fullerton's fourth conference defeat and the Titans were still able to claim the series victory. Titans have claimed victories in four consecutive series and five straight Big West series.

Andrew Quezada (L, 3-5) was the tough luck loser in this one, as he notched his seventh quality start of the season. He tossed 7.0 strong innings, just allowing two earned runs off of five hits, while fanning seven.

Blake Workman and Brett Conine combined to pitch 2.0 innings without allowing an earned run.

Offensively, Hank LoForte did it again and extended his on base streak to 32 consecutive games and has recorded at least one hit in 21 of his last 22 games. Sahid Valenzuela was effective, as he picked up a hit and drove in two runs thanks to a huge first inning triple. Brett Borgongo also recorded a knock. Cardenas and Berryhill each scored a run.

The Titans suffered just their fifth loss of the season when scoring first, as LoForte began the game with a single through the right side. He was then picked off, but both Berryhill and Cardenas were hit by pitches. Then Valenzuela came through with a big two out triple into the right centerfield gap to score two runs and give Fullerton the early 2-0 advantage.

However that's all the Titans would get, as UCR struck for a run in the second, fifth, seventh and eighth to win the game 4-2.

The Titans look to clinch the Big West crown next weekend, as they welcome in CSUN for the final home series of the regular season, beginning Thursday at 6 pm PT.
