Titans to Host 1st Place Tigers and Aggies at Titans Gym

Fullerton, Calif. - The Titans are currently riding a season best four-match winning streak heading back into Big West Conference play this weekend against the first place Tigers of Pacific (5-9, 5-1) and the UC Davis Aggies (8-11, 0-6). Both matches will finish a three-match home stand before the squad heads north to face Cal Poly and UC Santa Barbara next weekend.

LAST WEEK: Last weekend the Titans extended their season best winning streak to four matches with wins over Cal State Northridge and Bucknell, again led by senior hitter Brittany Moore.

On Saturday night in Northridge, Moore posted her third straight match with 20-or-more kills en route to the team's sweep of the Matadors. The win also jumped the Titans to a game over .500 at 3-2 in Big West play.

Cami Croteau's nine-serve run to start the first set of Sunday's match versus Bucknell set the tone as the Titans swept the Bisons in 1:16. Moore again led the way offensively with 10 kills, while Alex Wolnisty added seven of her own in the victory.

The win jumped the Titans overall record to 10-10, achieving the .500 mark for the first time since Sept. 5.

Freshman Sydney Mc Dowell paced the Titans at the net on the weekend with her share of nine blocks in the two matches including a pair of solos.

VS PACIFIC: Cal State Fullerton has beaten Pacific just five times since 1984, posting a 5-43 record against the Tigers all-time. The last Fullerton win came in their first meeting with Pacific last season at Titan Gym in four games (9/22/07).

VS UC DAVIS: The Titans are 5-2 against the Aggies dating back to the 2004 season when the teams met for the first time. The Titans swept the Aggies in the two meeting between them in UC Davis' first season competing in the Big West Conference. The Titans currently have a two-game winning streak over the Aggies.

QUICK HITS:
&\#149; The Titan Volleyball squad earned a perfect 1000 points in the university's APR report by virtue of every student-athlete on grant securing eligibility as well as graduating three of its athletes in the past year. Volleyball is the only existing sport at Cal State Fullerton to achieve the perfect 1000, and would be considered one of the countries top performers in the classroom according to APR calculations.

&\#149; The Titans, for the first-time ever, cracked the Top 100 in NCAA RPI this week (Oct. 13) coming in at No. 93. The Titans have or will play four teams (Long Beach, Wisconsin, Pepperdine and Cal) that are listed in the NCAA RPI Top 25.

&\#149; Cal State Fullerton (10-10) and Long Beach State (14-3) are the only two conference teams to have at least 10 wins on the year.

&\#149; With Brittany Moore earned Big West Player of the Week honors last week and became the second Titan this year to take home the award and just the 10th all-time. It is only the second time in school history that two players have picked up the award in the same year. The last time it happened, Moore and Breanna Trudeau earned the honor in 2006.

&\#149; Freshman Andrea Ragan has had five starts at the setter position this season and in the last four, the Titans are a perfect 4-0 with her running the offense. In her second and third career starts two weekends ago (Oct. 3-4), Ragan posted a 43- and 46-assist matches, the third- and fourth- best assist numbers for the Titans of the year.

&\#149; Alex Wolnisty (7th, .270) and Erin Saddler (9th, .263) rank in the Big West Conference's Top 10 in attack percentage.

&\#149; Brittany Moore ranks 5th in the Big West with 3.45kills per set and is one of three league players with over 230 total kills. She has also collected double-digits in kills in 15 of the Titans' 20 matches.

&\#149; Brittany Moore (10th) and Cami Croteau (5th) both rank in the Big West's top 10 in digs. Croteau and Davis' Avreeta Singh are the only two players in the league with more than 250 total digs.

&\#149; Brittany Moore has eight double-doubles (kills/digs) in the Titans' 20 matches played to date.

&\#149; Brittany Moore moved into the Titan record books with her 378th set played. She now ranks 9th all-time in sets played at Cal State Fullerton.

&\#149; Jennifer Edmond, Stephanie Sommer and Sydney McDowell, Andrea Ragan, Courtney Curran and Amanda Hoffmann, have all made their collegiate debuts in 2008.

BRITTANY LEADS TITANS TO A PERFECT WEEKEND: Brittany Moore (Orange, Calif.) averaged 5.17 kills per game and hit .316 in Cal State Fullerton's wins over Cal State Northridge and Bucknell. Her 31 kills in the two matches more than doubled her closest teammates, and her 21-kill performance led the Titans to a league victory on the road against the Matadors on Oct. 11. It was her third straight 20-kill effort dating back Oct. 3. On Sunday against the visiting Bisons, Moore led all players with 10 kills. On the weekend, she also tallied 12 digs (2.00 dps), and four blocks (one solo) to get the Titans back to the .500 mark on the year and extend their season best winning streak to four matches.
